Alex Norton playing the part of the Garage Manager in "Tokens Of Regard"

Glasgow born Alex Norton began his professional career in the BBC series, Dr Finlay's Casebook, when he was fourteen, then learned the job as a stagehand at the city's Pavilion Theatre. He proved his versatility as a singer, actor and dancer at the Glasgow Citizen's Theatre for Youth and in Billy Connolly's Great Northern Welly Boot Show, before becoming a found member of John McGrath's 7:84, the touring company that conceived "The Cheviot, The Stag and The Black Black Oil", later a controversial BBC program. After visiting America with the Gaelic folk group, Scotland on Parade, Norton divided his time between London and Glasgow, with regular appearances at the Citizen's Theatre - usually as the pantomime Dame - and in a string of prominent television productions. Recently he has appeared in three major films for his Glaswegian contemporary, Bill Forsyth, "Gregory's Girl", "Local Hero" and "Comfort and Joy".
