Alex Norton playing the part of the Garage Manager in "Tokens Of Regard"
| Glasgow born Alex Norton began his professional career in the BBC series, Dr Finlay's Casebook, when he was fourteen, then learned the job as a stagehand at the city's Pavilion Theatre. He proved his versatility as a singer, actor and dancer at the Glasgow Citizen's Theatre for Youth and in Billy Connolly's Great Northern Welly Boot Show, before becoming a found member of John McGrath's 7:84, the touring company that conceived "The Cheviot, The Stag and The Black Black Oil", later a controversial BBC program. After visiting America with the Gaelic folk group, Scotland on Parade, Norton divided his time between London and Glasgow, with regular appearances at the Citizen's Theatre - usually as the pantomime Dame - and in a string of prominent television productions. Recently he has appeared in three major films for his Glaswegian contemporary, Bill Forsyth, "Gregory's Girl", "Local Hero" and "Comfort and Joy". |
