Taunton 2012

11th May 2012 was the 10th Anniversary of Patrick Fyffe's Passing and we raised a nice amount for some truly wonderful flowers for him and for his Cancer Research Page.

This year we held a get together in Taunton in memory of Patrick Fyffe. George Logan and Christopher Underwood kindly joined us.

The gathering at Taunton Deane Crematorium was the biggest and best ever and to have Christopher Underwood signing with his tribute of 'Negro Spiritual' songs was very moving indeed.

George played some lovely songs for us at the evening 'do' and Christopher joined in with a good old fashioned sing song and was joined by Paul & Rushelle Bishop and Anne Wilson & Ros Light.

I hope we can do something similar to this this again next year.

(Ten Years Since Patrick Died)

What a wonderful turn out it was this year for the 'Tribute Event'
With Special Guests George Logan and Louie, and also Christopher Underwood aka Tewkesbury Ptolman. It was especially nice to see Paul & Hilary Miles too. I had dreamt of a nice anniversary party to remember Patrick and my goodness, we sure had one.
A nice get together on the evening of the 10th May, then early rise for Breakfast before going to Taunton Deane Crematorium.
To get there and see so many fans standing by the bench was a lovely sight, I had a bit of lump in the throat.
We did the usual flower laying and pictures and dear Christopher Underwood sang some lovely songs at Patricks grave. Very touching tribute to a lovely man who we all miss. After the singing we gave Patrick Three Cheers and a round of applause.
Next was the usual trip to The Worlds End Pub where we gathered our drinks and raised our glasses to Patricks memory.
The Evening 'Do' was held at the Hankridge Arms Pub in the function room and was the best evening, and boy did we celebrate.
The Tribute DVD was shown halfway before we had to stop for the rest of the evenings planned show. We had our buffet, and the rest of the evening consisted of a fantastic sing-along with George Logan on Piano and Christopher Underwood singing, and also joined by Paul & Rushelle Bishop, Ros Light and Anne Wilson, and a cast of many fans joining in.

You must feel quite deflated, Paul but, at the same time really chuffed that all has gone so well.

I spent Thursday afternoon & evening and all day yesterday thinking of you all and worrying that your journeys would be safe because of the weather - you all feel like old friends.

I'm sure we will all agree on what a memorable occasion it was and it will live in our memory for some considerable time, so thanks to Paul for all his hard work (the 'package' we all received is a great souvenir in itself) and to the others involved, such as Heather, who made many of the bookings.

Paul, I think it's inevitable you're going to now feel very deflated after the build-up, but I'm sure it will wear off in a few days and you'll have great fun in putting it all together on the website for us all to view.

Hi everyone. We're back safe and sound too and feeling a bit deflated

(though not nearly as much as Paul Dunford, I imagine). It was a wonderful two days and a real joy to meet everyone. We did keep in mind all you folk

who couldn't make it and I still think you are such a generous bunch of folk to wish us all well. I think I'd have been really jealous if I couldn't have been there. For the record, Lesley, I won three of your books and I've got

them already so Anne Wilson was pleased to take them to try. We were lucky enough to draw another ticket and had a memorial clock so we were very chuffed. Actually ALL our tickets came out (who shouted, "FIX"?) but we were

more than happy just to have our clock. I shall be bidding for those dresses, though. Meeting Hilary was a high point for me, as she told us what

a brilliant time they had when Patrick stayed with them for the last 6

months of his life, how he'd kept his sense of humour and was still joking up to 3 days before he died, also how she held his hands when he died. It

was so lovely to know that he was so loved and cared for. Christopher Underwood singing 3 spirituals at the graveside was also very moving and a beautiful experience (also enjoyed I'm told, by people nearby attending a funeral). This is turning into an essay, so I'll shut up and once again say

thank you to Paul, Heather and Anne who made the whole thing possible and

such a success,. Love to all, Liz (and Paul). xx

Dry your eyes Paul - although the deflation is quite understandable, you ought to be swelling (oooh er Missus!) with PRIDE that the event went off so well. Huge thanks to you and H for doing all the organisation so brilliantly. It was fantastic for Ros and me to put faces to all those who had until this week just been names on a screen.

But brilliant weather yesterday and today, brilliant company, brilliant entertainment - THREE CHEERS for Paul and Heather! Hip - Hip!!

What a weekend you all had! Fab pictures, Paul, and congratulations to you, Heather and Anne for the organisation. How lovely to have Christopher Underwood singing at the graveside.

I managed to put faces to some names, but of course those not on FB couldn't be tagged. Liz, well done for extending my fan base.

I'm very sad that I will never be able to come - son's birthday is unfortunately immovable! (Mind you, we had a terrific party for that!)

I've been following the emails and YouTube and just wanted to congratulate you on the wonderful Taunton tribute to Patrick that you organised, with help from Anne and Heather.

George Logan and Christopher Underwood at Patrick's grave, and Christopher singing so beautifully - what a touching and heartfelt tribute it was: far more meaningful than any glitz or glamour. I found it very moving, and seeing so many people at Patrick's grave strongly emphasises the regard that everyone still has for his unique comic and musical genius.

Sorry I wasn't able to take part, but I was very much with you all in spirit.

You really 'did Patrick proud'. Well done!

Well Peter and I have just arrived home, safe and very happy after a wonderful few days, it was lovely to renew old friendships from Buxton and Bel Ombrage, and make lots of new friends too.

Thank you Paul for making it all happen and all the others too that made such huge contributions.

We were so moved, as I think everyone was, by Christopher's graveside tribute. I hadn't expected that, and I'm so glad to see it posted on YouTube, now I know for sure that I didn't dream it.

The other special moments for me were seeing the contributions of our own group, Anne, Ros, Paul and Rushelle - what beautiful voices you have :) and wonderful to hear you all singing with George and Christopher.

I was fortunate enough to win a set of Lesley's books. I already had the first, and George - who is a fan of detective novels - was really pleased to have it. So Lesley, there's a little bit of you at Bel Ombrage already!!

Paul D - as we promised, we called in again at the crem on our way back through Taunton earlier today, and everything is still all looking good. The flowers really were stunning.
