Hi Paul

I have just been to my local pub and the subject of comedy stars from stage and TV that have not been heard of for a few years. The names of 'Hinge and Bracket' came into the conversation and that no one had heard of them for a number of years, I said that the internet would be the place to find out and I would look when I got home. To my horror I find out that Mr. Fyffe has died, although I never met him a friend of mine who was a taxi driver picked them up from 'The Civic Theatre' in Darlington and drove them to their next gig somewhere down south. He said that the journey just flew by with the ladies in the rear of the cab, they were bickering and taking the mick out of each other and my friend the taxi driver 'John'. Mr. Fyffe is sadly missed and I hope that Mr. Logan has been able to move on after almost six years. Having said this I do not think that the name of "Hinge and Bracket" will ever be forgotten.

Kind regards

Phil & Jeanette.

Hi Paul,
It's a wonderful site with such a great bunch of people. I have joined the Google group also and think its great. Love the pictures.. A big thank you for all your hard work in getting the DVD's released and for  keeping the memory of our Dear Ladies alive... Hope you have a great Easter.
Take care.
Laurence.
It's absolutely wonderful what Paul has achieved through all his hard work and dedication. The DVDs are now released and its all thanks to Paul. I'm just about to order the Gala evenings one too. I was watching the series one last night and I was in giggles. Nice interview with George.

Paul Darling, but its all true. Without you the wonderful memory of the Dear Ladies in the eyes of the public (Not the fans) would have simply faded to grey. H&B means different things to each one of us. For me personally they felt like friends all those years ago during my teenage years. The Dear Ladies were there for me and got me through troubled
times.

You Paul have made the impossible happen! You took on the might of the BBC and won and now the Dear Ladies will be on sale over the world for long many a day, thanks to you my dear. I'm sure George is very proud of you and I know Hilda would be putting on her glad rags and driving over to thank you in person......
Lana

I would also like to say a big thank you to  our Paul, who has suffered much aggravation, but whose work and  determination has brought us through to where we can all now buy superb DVD's of the two greatest artists in world

Great Site

Well done for creating such a comprehensive tribute to Hinge & Bracket.

My father was the head teacher at Great Budworth school, where of course 'Dear Ladies' was filmed and we sometimes talk about how the villagers reacted to the 'invasion' of the camera crew.  At the end of filming a party went to a recording of the show in Manchester which was great.

Hello Paul

I received my BBC DVD of The Dear Ladies six half hour episodes - and what WONDERFUL memories it brought back to me.  My sister and I were fanatical fans of Hinge and Bracket and were lucky enough to meet George and Patrick quite a few times after their shows.  It really was a magical age and one we look back on with many happy memories.

Thanks to your efforts we can now enjoy the performances once more.  Keep up the good work and know all your efforts are so appreciated!  I have just seen the other DVDs on offer and will order today!
Best wishes

Just writing to you as I have just visited your web site. How lovely to see so many picture of Patrick and George.

I knew both really well many years ago and enjoyed Patrick's company very much. They were frequent visitors to Hereford and became good friends locally with a few people here.

I visited Patrick when his mother was still alive and watched his first Royal Variety Performance with him when it was shown on TV. He was so proud of this appearance and delighted that his silk handkerchief floated as gracefully as he had hoped when performing.

I visited him when he had just bought a detached house in Putney and again after that when he had completed the renovations.

We also enjoyed a lovely holiday in Berlin at this time.

I never really consider myself to be old enough to reminisce about such events but your web page brought back many memories for me.

I was away when Patrick died and returned to this news. Sadly the funeral had also taken place. It was good to see Patrick's headstone.

Well done for all you have done to keep the name of Hinge and Bracket alive.

Hello Paul,

I hope you don't mind me e-mailing you!  My name is Carole Haydock, I am 46 years old and I, like you, am a life long fan of these two wonderful, dear ladies, well, ever since I first heard them during a radio broadcast of highlights of the Edinburgh Fringe all those years ago.  I was lucky enough to see them several times live at both the Theatre Royal, Newcastle Upon Tyne, and Whitley Bay Playhouse, a place often mentioned by Dame Hilda regarding Evadne's annual holiday ("like the lemming"!).  On each occasion I was so happy to meet both Mr Logan and Mr Fyffe, the latter has, and always will, forever remain in my heart and memory as being one of the most warm, friendly and dearest people I have ever met, Mr Logan too was lovely to all waiting for autographs, but what I remember most is on one occasion being the last person with Mr Fyffe, as it was the last night of their performances he decided to tidy up the small room where he and Mr Logan had met all we fans.  I helped him take down the posters and flyers, he signed them all and gave them to me saying "they might be worth something when I'm gone!".  Dear man, he went far, far too soon didn't he?  Also, at the Theatre Royal, at the stage door I handed in a little book to him called "Larn Yersel' Geordie", as he had been rather taken with the Geordie accent (sorry, forgot to mention I am from Newcastle Upon Tyne!), and when I was talking to him he kept asking me to say things in my accent and then trying to repeat it after me!  To my amazement, he had the little book with him on stage in the next night's performance (they did three nights, I went to each one!), he actually told the audience that it had been left for him and said thank you!  Of course, no-one knew it was me, I just blushed away in the darkness of the auditorium!

I think your website is absolutely fantastic, the amount of dedication and work put into it is evident for all to see, the best, I think, on it's subject matter that I have come across.  I still have everything to do with my visits to the theatre to see the Ladies, programmes, tickets, autographs etc. they have been with me for the last 25 years, I also have several LP's, a cassette, Dame Hilda's book, a cd and now, at last, the DVD'S!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the hard work that you have obviously done to make the release of this material happen at last, they are way overdue, and wouldn't be here at all if it wasn't for your dedication and perseverance.  I was so taken with the headstone and seat for My Fyffe shown on your website too, such a beautiful and touching reminder for everyone to enjoy.  I notice on the press cuttings on your website that I have a couple that don't seem to be there, one a double spread from, I think, a Sunday newspaper article, the other a smaller piece from the Radio Times, where Hilda talks about her cake recipe I think!  I wondered if you would like to see them, e-mailed maybe?  Well, I'm so sorry to ramble on so much, I could chat about this all day if allowed!  I will visit your website many more times to keep up with events, please if you are ever in touch with Mr Logan, please send him my love and good wishes, I know he won't remember me but I will never forget him and Mr Fyffe, I am already just about word perfect with series one, I can't believe how many of the words I know to the songs on the "concerts" dvd, even the dog is loving listening (and joining in!).

With best wishes and kind regards

Carole
Hi Paul

I know you know how I feel about your input into the hard work you've always put into promoting Hinge and Bracket, but I think the time has come to THANK YOU AGAIN because it is because of your hard work that these official DVD's have been released - and recognition is now being displayed of these wonderful, un-equalled talents.
You really must realise how much you mean to us fans for being so solid in your goal....and you have reached it!!!!!

Thank You from the bottom of my heart Paul..... you are a true STAR!!

Hi Paul,

the website looks superb !!!!!!       Lovely lovely and I agree with all of Ringo's comments. But for you there would be no DVD releases and the Gala Evenings DVD is just wonderful because we didn't really have any of the early stuff it's great.

Hope to see you soon love to the German and the dog.
